Before you send
The rate above is the mid-market rate: the midpoint between the prices at which banks buy and sell each currency. No transfer service pays it exactly. Each takes a margin on the rate, and many add a fee on top.
So compare services by what arrives, not by the fee: how many naira the recipient gets for the same number of dollars. A transfer advertised as free usually makes its money on the rate.
For example, 200 CAD at the reference rate is 187,624 NGN. A service offering 181,995 NGN for the same 200 dollars is keeping about 3% of it.

About the Nigerian naira
Legal tender in Nigeria.
Nigeria unified its exchange-rate windows in 2023 and let the naira float. Since then the official rate and the rates bureaux quote have largely converged, so the reference rate here is a fair benchmark, though a transfer service will still offer somewhat less.
